Lyudmila VOROBYOVA

Soprano

Lyudmila Vorobyova was born in the town of Ostashkov, Tver region. In 1997, she graduated from the vocal department of N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatoire, the class of Honoured Arts Worker, Professor I. P. Levando. After that she embarked on the post-graduate course and graduated in 1999. From 1997 to 2002 Lyudmila Vorobyova was a soloist of the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet under N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatoire, where she debuted playing the part of Siébel in Ch. Gounod’s opera “Faust”. Afterwards, she sang the following parts: Olga in Eugene Onegin (in “Eugene Onegin” by P. Tchaikovsky); Milovzor in “The Queen of Spades” by P. Tchaikovsky; Dido in “Dido and Aeneas” by H. Purcell; the mezzo-soprano part in the Requiem by G. Verdi; Lyubasha in “The Tsar’s Bride” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov; Laura in “Iolanta” by P. Tchaikovsky; Dido in “The Trojans” by H. Berlioz (conducted by S. Stadler).

In 1996 and 1998, Vorobyova took part in the concerts of the festival “Seliger Music Summer” organized by I. K. Arkhipova, as well as in Russian music festival dedicated to the 125th anniversary of S. V. Rakhmaninov (1998).

From 2002 to 2006 she was a soloist of Galina Vishnevskaya’s Opera Centre. During that period, she pparticipated in the following opera performances: “The Tsar’s Bride” by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, as Domna Saburova, and “Ruslan and Lyudmila” by M. I. Glinka, as Gorislava.

She also participated in the first Russian tours of the Centre, playing in the opera “The Tsar’s Bride” by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, through Volga towns with the state symphony orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Ponkin. The project was directed by G. P. Vishnevskaya and M. L. Rostropovich.

In February 2006 Lyudmila Vorobyova was invited to sing the part of Gioconda in “La Gioconda” by A. Ponchielli, to give a concert performance at the Grand Hall of P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire with the State Academic Symphony Choir of Russia under the direction of V. Polyansky.

Since the beginning of her artistic work, she has toured to the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Since 2006, she has been a soloist of the theatrical and cultural centre “Russkiy Metsenat”.

Since 2008, she has been a soloist of the theatre “Russkaya Opera”.
